Every year I swear I'll never fly on BA or via Heathrow and then I somehow get suckered by price, miles or convenience and I use BA. Well I've had it! Last year I flew BA on the day after the terror attacks and of course our flights were canceled 2 days in a row from NY to London. Ok moved on and accepted it.

Then I flew another time within Europe via BA and of course the baggage carousel was broken. We were on a strict one bag only and don't take anything on the plane so check all our bags in policy. Low and behold they go missing. The flight is London to Geneva. A very frequent route for BA. One would think that the bags would arrive within the week but no leave it to BA to 'not have enough staff to handle the problem (of course not because they cut costs by cutting staff and overtime to make a few million pounds more and we the customer must suffer). SO for 6 weeks - yes 6 weeks we don't know where our bags are. We are told they are in Milan - of course where else would they go? Apparently it's easier for BA to send thousands of bags to Milan and have them deal with the bags then to handle it through Heathrow (worst City to fly through). So 6 weeks later we get our bags with of course - missing items. When filling a claim what does BA have to say for themselves 'not our responsibility' and 'you shouldn't put valuables in the bag'. So of course they shirk out of their responsibilities of paying. God forbid a billion dollar company can pay out a measly $300 to a customer.

So do I learn - NO! We fly this past week from Geneva to London then London to NY. We arrive at Heathrow - hang out, store our hand luggage in the business class lounge while we walk around duty free. Upon returning to the Lounge we are told to evacuate. As I go to get my bags I'm told to just leave them and evacuate. I can come back for them. 5 hours later, after standing in the car park, unde the rain and not told a thing we are finally told most flights are canceled and we aren't allowed back into the terminal. Go homethey tell us. What is to happen to the bags? We're told 'BA doesn't know what they are doing about these yet'. Great. I may as well write those bags off too. We rebook for a flight the next day - of course BA won't help out to get hotel rooms or to provide money for transportation of anything. God forbid they take responsibility over their paying customers. So we trek into London. Next day I go to reclaim my carry on bags as well as my 2 children's bags and SURPRISINGLY they are in the 'left luggage' area. I'm happy and grateful until I open the bags to find they are missing many things - IPOD, digital cameras, and kids DVD player. Of course BA is not responsible. OF COURSE you are responsible. It was under your care and security. TAKE responsibility.

I think any common thief should work for BA. They are not reprimanded or even investigated when things go missing. it's the customers fault for carrying such items or leaving their bags with BA. What a great scam.
